Anointing of the Sick
Traditionally, this sacrament was referred to as Extreme Unction and Viaticum, and was reserved only for those who were dying. However, since the Second Vatican Council, a greater appreciation of this sacrament as a healing remedy for body and soul has developed and is now commonly referred to as the Anointing of the Sick. This sacrament is offered to anyone facing a serious illness, hospitalization, surgery, or any other serious health condition.
To have yourself or a sick loved one anointed at home, please call the Parish Center (631-269-6635) to make an appointment with one of the priests. If you or your loved one are in a hospital, ask one of the nurses or aides to contact the hospital chaplain.
